Synopsis : Themed around the four pillars of diversity—sexuality, gender, disability, and race— the anthology film “My Melbourne” features four unique diverse stories based on true incidents. Indraneel, a queer Indian man and his estranged father reunite in Melbourne to complete a ceremonial ritual, exploring their fraught relationship and the power of forgiveness amid grief. Newly married Sakshi and homeless Jules form an unlikely bond, navigating their struggles and finding connection despite their differences. Emma, a talented deaf dancer, grapples with self-doubt and discrimination until a chance encounter with another deaf dancer inspires her to embrace her uniqueness and find her inner strength. Setara, a 15-year-old Afghan girl rebuilding her life in Melbourne after fleeing the Taliban, finding her sense of belonging through cricket amid family tensions and past trauma.

Director Bio : Imtiaz Ali is an Indian film director, actor producer and writer. Imtiaz Ali started his career writing and directing television shows including Imtehaan, Naina and Kurukshetra. In 2005 he made his directorial debut with Socha Na Tha, followed by the cult hit Jab We Met (2007). This was followed by critical and commercial successes Love Aaj Kal (2009),Rockstar (2011), Cocktail (2012), Highway (2014), Tamasha (2015), Jab Harry Met Sejal (2017), Love Aaj Kal 2 (2020) and the popular web series She (2020/2022) distributed by Netflix. Imtiaz Ali's latest film Amar Singh Chamkila (2024), a biographical film about the legendary Punjabi singer, is garnering exceptional success since its April release on Netflix.

Director Bio : Kabir Khan is an acclaimed Indian filmmaker, known for combining documentary roots with commercial cinema. Starting his career in documentary, he gained recognition with The Forgotten Army (1999) on the Indian National Army. His feature debut, Kabul Express (2006), earned him the Indira Gandhi Award. His major successes include Ek Tha Tiger (2012) and Bajrangi Bhaijaan (2015), which won him the National Film Award for Best Popular Film and was a massive box-office hit. His later works, 83 (2021) and Chandu Champion (2024), received positive reviews but had modest box-office returns. Khan will next direct The Zookeeper, a Sino-Indian collaboration set in Chengdu, China.

Director Bio : Rima Das, an acclaimed Indian filmmaker, is best known for Village Rockstars (2017), India's official entry for the 90th Academy Awards and the first Assamese film submitted to the Oscars. This film won India’s National Award for Best Film and Best Editor. A self-taught artist, Das is known for handling multiple aspects of her films, including writing, directing, producing, and editing. Her film Bulbul Can Sing (2018) premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival. Das has served on juries at several international festivals and is a Toronto International Film Festival Brand Ambassador. In 2022, her film Tora’s Husband premiered at TIFF's Platform section. Her influences include Satyajit Ray and Ingmar Bergman. Rima Das's latest film, Village Rockstars 2, was honored with the Kim Jiseok Award for Best Film at the 29th Busan International Film Festival in 2024.

Director Bio : Onir is one ofIndia’s most iconic filmmakers, often referred to as the face ofIndia’s Indie Cinema and the LGBTQI movement. He is best known for his film My Brother...Nikhil, based on the life of Dominic d’Souza. Nikhil was one of the first mainstream Hindi films to deal with AIDS and same-sex relationships, followed by films l Bas Ek Pal (2006), Sorry Bhai (2008), Raising the Bar (2016), Shab (2017) and Kuch Bheege Alfaz (2018). Onir won the National Award for his film I Am, which consists of four short films exploring themes such as single motherhood, displacement, child abuse and same-sex relationships. Winner of several national and international awards, Onir writes, directs and produces his own films and constantly pushes boundaries to address important social and cultural issues facing India.
