Synopsis : Rahmat, a dry fruit seller from Afghanistan, forms an unlikely bond with Mini, a young girl in Kolkata, reminding him of his own daughter left back home. This connection helps him cope with the emotional turmoil of his separation. However, a series of misunderstandings leads Rahmat to imprisonment, interrupting his relationship with Mini. After his release, he hopes to reconnect, only to find that Mini has grown and changed, leaving him with bittersweet memories.
Director Bio : Tapan Sinha (1924-2009) was a celebrated Indian filmmaker known for his contributions to Bengali cinema, with a career spanning over four decades. He began as a sound engineer at Kolkata’s New Theatres and later in the UK with Pinewood Studios. Inspired by global cinema, he transitioned to directing and debuted with Ankush (1954). Sinha’s films, often adapted from Bengali literature, reflect a keen social consciousness and sensitivity to human struggles. Works like Kabuliwala (1957) and Apanjan (1968) earned him national acclaim, and his focus on diverse genres, including children’s films, set him apart. Tapan Sinha received several prestigious awards, including the Padma Shri, and his films still continue to be celebrated for their emotional depth and technical brilliance.
