Synopsis : In the remote outskirts of Manorva village, Phekan, a humble laborer, lives on society's margins with his resilient wife Rukhiya and their son Karimana. Amidst haunting Kirtan prayers, Phekan's struggle against poverty takes him to the city, where he faces exploitation and deceit, culminating in a violent clash with the police that leaves him disillusioned. Back home, Rukhiya battles whispers branding her a witch and is driven to madness when an ominous voice threatens her son's life. Phekan's fleeting moments of hope in the city are overshadowed by betrayal and a frenzied mob. Nehura, a remorseful cremator, seeks redemption upon recognizing Phekan.In a surreal, defiant dance, Rukhiya sets her home ablaze, teetering on the edge of madness. Amidst the chaos, Nehura, drawn by an ethereal cry, finds himself on the brink of an unexpected revelation, hinting at forgiveness and a new beginning.
Director Bio : Born in Dhanbad, Abhilash Sharma graduated in Physics from Patna. His passion for literature led him to study theatre direction at the National School of Drama in Delhi. Exposure to world cinema through SARAI sparked his interest in filmmaking. Moving to Mumbai, he honed his skills freelancing on various projects. In 2008, he directed his first music video, "KASH," followed by the short film "Without Ticket Passenger." His 2012 feature debut faced commercial challenges, leading him back to corporate video editing. In 2018, he wrote "Swaha," completed in 2024, premiering at the Shanghai International Film Festival and winning Best Director. His films explore women's narratives within socio-political contexts.
